Getting to Yorktown

I am planning a trans am east to west. I could use some help planning how to get to Yorktown with bike and gear to start. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Where are you traveling from? Rental vehicle, dropping off nearby (I dropped at the nearby airport, which had a company site there.) If bus is an option, you may want to check if there's a drop-off. I don't know about Amtrak, but you may want to check if that's an available option. If you need an overnight in Yorktown, you may want to contact Grace Episcopal Church; I believe they still offer free lodging (donations appreciated) to cyclists. Hope this helps. Good luck. You'll love the journey.

Thanks for your reply, I should have offered more information. I will be traveling from Washington State so I will be flying. Renting a car sounds like a good idea. Where exactly was the airport where you were able to drop off the car?

The nearest airport to Yorktown is Newport News/Williamsburg Intl. It's about 12 miles to Yorktown. I did not fly in. Rather, I drove a Hertz rental and dropped off at the airport.
