Driving to work yesterday I was listening to public radio out of Virginia and they were saying recently that thousands of people showed up at her house and presented her a check for what all she has done for bicyclists over the years. I have never met her but after listening to her on the radio she must really be a special peson. All she wanted out of life was a few more years of good health to help out more bicyclists.God bless you cookie ladie.

yeh..i had heard about that too...i was going to attend but, alas, i had to
work all that weekend...def bummed seein i live about 10 minutes from
her house too....i'm sure it was amazing though.

I am beginning to think my next long tour, however far into the future it may be before I begin it, should be the Trans Am, and not the southern tier which I have done a few times already. The more journals I read about the TA, and the more pictures I see of it, the more I think it is the best way to go.

I can't imagine that you would regret it.  It is a great route.

I did meet one guy who had done the NT, ST, and TA who liked the ST best of the three, but he didn't like mountains much and I suspect that was the reason.
