Where would you send me?
« on: February 15, 2005, 06:01:00 am »
I have 30 days in the middle of the summer, say all of july, to tour, somewhere in the US or Canada. If you could send me on your favorite route, what would it be? Please give me your inspired advice. I only wish I had more time!

This is easy-first you fly to Glacier International Airport---ride up
through Glacier Park and then head up to Canada---you could go up
the Icefields or just explore southern BC--lots of hotsprings to soak in,
nice roads, not to many cars.

Happy pedaling!

Nancy, your suggestion:

---ride up through Glacier Park and then head up to Canada---you could go up the Icefields or just explore southern BC--

sounds interesting! With your permission I'd like to pick your brain on this. Shall I email you?

I'd send you to Atlantic Canada; New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. I have not been to Newfoundland yet, but have made 5 two week trips to the others. The roads are generally good for cycling, uncongested with good surface. Tourism is a major industry, and there is lots of good information on what to see and do. All the provinces have excellent web sites for tourism. Campgrounds are numerous; New Brunswick (where I went this summer) alone has over 150. The Canadians are very friendly. The area has a rich tapestry of scenery, culture, and history to enjoy.

4 weeks is not enough..Al.

All of the routes mentioned are excellent.  I have toured all of these and would recommend any.  I would also recomend the Pacific Coast Highway from OR south.   Please note in the summer go north to south due to the winds.
