I-10 from Blythe to Joshua Tree?
« on: April 04, 2005, 11:18:13 pm »
We are currently on the Southern Tier, riding east to west, but we want to finish in the LA area instead of San Diego.  We have worked out an alternate route from Brawley up the west side of the Salton Sea to Indio, but are wondering about staying on I-10 to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park instead.  On the map it looks shorter but with a big climb.  Does anyone have any information about this route, or have ridden (or driven) it before?  Any help is appreciated.

I have not ridden that route, and it has been a while since I've driven it. However if I recall correctly there are some big climbs in and out of the area of Joshua Tree, and that it's much farther than it looks on the map.
