hi,
i'm doing the pacific coast tour (vancouver to san fransisco leg) this summer. i am using the adventure cycling maps. i need to get from astoria, oregon to portland along the way.  can anyone suggest a good route?

There is a mission is Astoria,,Homelike not a bad place...Seasonal train service to Portland OR in the summer.Portland & Western is the freight trains with stops at the local lumber mill & Paper Mills.
Route 30-Quincy Maygee Rd-Route 30-St Johns Bridge

hi,
thanks for the advice.  actually, what i am looking for is a route that we can ride our bikes on from astoria to portland.  what is the best road(s)?

any thoughts are appreciated!

There are several, there is a detailed discussion here.  I used Rt. 30, it was fine - a little too much traffic right in the Portland area.  Plenty of shoulder and services.  Flat, easy, decent views.
