Anyone ever ridden the Katy Trail in Missouri? I've biked the Natchez Trace and looking for a different route next May.

bigdaddy - my brothers and I did the KATY in '02 (Apr/May) and had a great time!! A simple search under the title "KATY Trail" will net you a wonderful and pretty new site that is a bevy of info. Nice and level and 225 miles long and no more than 400' difference in elevation. Enjoy will love it! Regards........Mark of the Dalton Boys

Actually I was glad to see your post about the Katy Trail, especially your comment about riding Natchez Trace.

I am considering such a ride in the near future and would like to know where I can find more information about riding the Trace. Other than the NPS that is.

Adventure Cycling's Great Rivers South maps and service directories do the usual great job on the Natchez Trace.

Used to live in Saint Louis so the Katy was a good excuse for a weekend ride. Plenty of miles to cover (265 mi)and plenty of places of the trail to stop and stay (camping in many town areas).
My guess is you have been to the website but here it is: Katy Trail

My sister and I did the Katy Trail last fall (early Oct)going west to east in 4 days and it was splendid. Towns on the trail are usually fairly close together (10 - 15 miles apart)and there are no hills to speak of. Spring or fall would be the best weather (very hot & HUMID in the summer.) There are some campgrounds in the towns, but no camping allowed along the trail. There are plenty of B&B's. If you're fortunate, you'll run into some festivals in some of the towns. A great ride...I'll do it again.

I forgot that I had posted on this site.  Have you done the Trace already? When we rode the Trace, I picked up a copy of a book, Biking the N.T., by Glen Wanner.  Great book!
