Nation Geographic Back Roads Software
« on: January 22, 2006, 09:06:29 pm »
Anyone use National Geographic Back Roads software to create new routes?
I want to create routes (USA) traveling county and state roads then analyze the elevation (Hills) and mileage before picking the final route.
NG Back roads appears to have Topo and roads but can it be used the way I want to use it.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
Regards: Clyde
The journey is my destination.

Ditto your question.  I used a demo of the N.G. Washington state cd at the REI in Seattle.  Very cool.  Shows topography, does an elevation profile (I was able to find out just exactly what the climb I'd just done was, in feet.) and has a fun "fly-over" view of the route.  But the resolution on the state maps ($50 each) and the Backroads version is different.  I wonder if the Backroads version has sufficient detail.
