Hi
My husband an me (from Switzerland) want to cycle the transamerica-trail or Lewis&Clark-Route this spring/summer. We will start in west and go east. Can somebody tell us when it's possible to start (we would prefer as soon as possible) without too much snow up in the mountains.
And too, where are the most diffecult points because of the weather?
We would be glad to get some information!
Marianne und Urs

In the high mountain passes you can get snow as late as June but it's unlikely to really stop traffic or be much below freezing. Since you want to start as early as possible I would suggest May 1 as a good starting date from the west coast.
