Pacific coast with kids

Hi,
This July we're cycling from Vancouver to San Fransisco (following the Spring / Kirkendall guide) on one normal bike and one three-person 'triplet' which takes Dad + 2 kids age 8 and 5.
Has anyone any hints for good stop offs/ things of interest for kids? Between Astoria and San Fran I can only find the odd lighthouse to go and see.
Any other hints on this route will be welcome.
Cheers, Julie

The first thing that comes to mind is one of the first things that you will hit: Tillamook.  The cheese and ice cream factory should be lots of fun for the kids.

All though I can't think of anything in specific, I always enjoyed the redwoods as a kid, and there are all sorts of bigfoot kitsch throughout Northern California that the kids may enjoy (or not...).  In the Eureka area there are also a number of dairy farms to visit, and great Victorian architecture with bright colors that kids enjoy.

Hopefully that gives you some ideas
Sean

How about the Oregon Coast Aquarium at Lincoln City, Oregon, or the Sea Lion Caves near Florence, Oregon.  Also just south of Crescent City, California you can go to the Trees of Mystery and see redwood trees that have grown in strange shapes and a huge statue of Paul Bunyon and Babe his blue ox.

Thanks for the info. That's already a big improvement!
