Pennsylvania north to south?
« on: July 29, 2007, 05:43:35 pm »
I'm going to be riding from New England to Virginia in September, looking for a sane route south from the Finger Lakes region of New York, across PA to the Potomac River.  That is, from say around Corning NY to around Hancock MD.  Middle PA west of Harrisburg & east of Pittsburgh.

I can deal with hills & wild country, I don't much dig riding the shoulder of a big 4-lane (such as US15) or a shoulderless 2-lane with heavy traffic. I also really try to avoid unfamiliar urban areas.  I know there are lots of options, just wondering if anyone has a few great roads to suggest.

It'll all get posted on my website www.nickonthebike.com as things unfold.

Thanks!  Nick

Here is a site with established trails for PA,
http://www.bikepa.com/routes/

You can also Google Pennsylvania bicycling routes for more information, but this is a list of "established" PA routes!

Have a good ride!
