Water Sources in AZ and NM
« on: August 12, 2007, 05:40:46 pm »
Hi,
I was wondering how people dealt with the water situation along the
Arizona/ New Mexico section of the souther tier.  Is it worth it to bring a
water filter, or should I just expect to load up in the towns?
Thanks!

In order for a water filter to be effective you need water.  Hence, there is not much point in having a water filter in AZ and NM.  Stock up in towns.  The same goes for California and I suspect a lot of Texas.

I didn't have a major hard time finding water, but I ditched the AC route on day 3 going East to West from St. Augustine to San Diego.  I took US90 most from mobile, AL to Van Horn, TX. I-10 all the way to near Tucson/Phoenix and I-8 all the way to the coast.  Jumped back on the route at Alpine, CA.  That route gave me lots of water options, just be careful.
