Southern Tier - Nov. to Jan.
« on: November 10, 2007, 05:55:33 pm »
Solo rider from Tennessee going self-contained Southern Tier West-East.  Planning to use ACA main route unless diversion is necessary.  This is my first crossing.
I plan on leaving San Diego on Nov. 25 and ride until a day or two before Christmas, take a rental home and then continue the day after Christmas.  Any must sees or must avoids during this time period?  Any other suggestions or help?

Hi bchaffins,

No particular suggestions except you can look me up on warmshowers.com if you are interested in that as you enter the Florida panhandle. I live about 50 miles north of Bonifay. Also I might consider riding with you from my house east for a week if the timing is right, even if you pass on my Alabama hospitality. I have done the whole route west of my home.

Ed,
I really appreciate the offer.  I will keep your info and let you know when I am a few days away so I can give an accurate date when I will be coming through.
I am working on my site and will post it when I have it a little more completed.

For any interested in my trip: I just posted the first version of a site describing the trip and equipment at www.ridingforadventure.com.  I will be posting photos and logs as I ride.  Any suggestions please email them to me at the address listed on the site.

Currently sitting here in Vidor, TX, east bound, anyone have suggestions on bike friendly route into the French Quarter in New Orleans, specifically to Margaritaville and then east and back onto the Southern Tier?  Can post here or if possible email to me at bill@ridingforadventure.com.  Thanks.  Bill
