Alt route to N. Tier (Idaho section)?

Instead of going through Sandpoint,ID, has anyone taken a more northern route through Canada. The full route would be to remain on 2 through Libby, MT heading west, then north on 95 and 1 to Canadian border and further to Creston, BC.  West on 3 and then south to 31, remeeting the Northern Tier at Ione, WA
