We live on your route across Maine. If you look at your map there is an "H" formed between Route #! and Rte#3 by Rte 52 in Belfast We live in that 'H'. Touring cyclists are most welcome to visit, pitch a tent, grab a shower, etc. The adress is 45A Lincolnville Ave,Belfast, Maine 04915. Phone (207)338-3105. Diane and I will be more than happy to provide comfort, local knowledge, etc. Pitching a tent in our secluded yard is no problem. I also have an extensive cycle shop with all the necessary tools should a tune up or repair be necessary,  Diane and Alex Allmayer-Beck

Hi Sailariel...

And rt 3 is a pretty nice route, you get a great view of the bay and the Atlantic as you get closer to belfast.

Anyway, have you thought about registering on warmshowers.org?

I registered a few years ago and to my surprise, 4 folks (2 parties of 2) contacted me about staying last year and I hosted them and had a lot of fun talking about their travels and stuff. One party was headed to NYC and the other was headed to Westchester County.

Hey, Alex!  Nice to see your post.  I'll vouch for this guy.  He helped me out on my trans-America ride last year.  Belfast was one of my all-time favorite towns on the ride.  I was going east to west.  Dang, hard to believe that ride is history now.

Hope you're still riding, Alex.  All the best to you and Diane.

Cheers,

Scott

Scott, Am going strong. Riding a lot and have recently finished a touring bike which has become my second car. Diane is doing well. She had a heart attack in Sept. and has recovered fine. I got a clean bill of health six weeks ago--no cancer. Made it four years. Am riding at least 20mi a day. Did a century last Friday. Going across the US is still in the works. Great hearing from you. Take care and stay in touch, Alex

The Welcome Mat is always out. We spent 14 years cruising in our sailboat Ariel III and logged 80,000+ nautical miles. Many folks welcomed us in our travels. It is time to return the favors. Happy Touring.
