Great Divide - Unsupported
« on: September 09, 2008, 10:51:49 am »
I'm looking for input on the Great Divide in preparation for a trip next year. I'm planning an unsupported ride, possibly solo or with a small group.
Supported/Unsupported?
Starting/Ending points?
Ship supplies ahead or are there sufficient sources to buy along the way in 2-3 day increments?
How to get to the start?  fly, car, bus?
Cell connectivity on the route?
Recommended bike - mountain or cross or what?
Carry bear spray?
Respond via email direct:  jdmpski@aol.com

Im also planning a great devide trip, but only the montana portion due to work, then next year another section and so on.  I plan on riding from top to bottom, my wife is dropping me off in roosville then picking me up when I stop.  I plan on being unsupported other than that.  I will pull a B.O.B. to carry my load.  Im actually searching for a new 29" hardtail mountain bike to ride.

Check out "Biker Bob and the Bloated Mule" blog site. He has a lot of info about the New Mexico part of the route.

Of course, as a New Mexican, I am bit biased about the NM sections of the trail. Beautiful!
