Underground Railroad Route

I've just ordered  sections 1&2  of the UR route from Mobile Al. to
Owensboro Ky.
I'd like to leave around Oct. 20 2008 and ride south from Owensboro.
If anyone can share any info on this section..  Such as road
conditions,weather, etc.I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Also will I be able to put my bike on Amtrak to get back to Owensboro?
(or close by)
