Anyone use the downloadable maps?
« on: February 20, 2009, 01:45:58 pm »
Has anyone used any of the ACA downloadable maps?

I have used the printed ACA maps for TansAm and Pacific coast and was wondering how the downloadable maps compare.

Are all the same features included? What size can you print the maps or what is the default sizing? Details as good as on the printed maps?

Was thinking of doing Green Mountains this summer so I could build in a visit with family (and maybe even get my 11 year old niece and 9 year old nephew out for a 1/2 day ride and nigh of camping! Never to young to get them into touring!).

Thanks for any info.

All the same features that are on the regular maps are on the downloadable maps. They are designed to be printed on 8.5" x 11" sheets and can be folded into thirds to fit into a handlebar bag to show a map panel. The Green Mountains Loop map is a bit harder to read since it is a loop going in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions and alternates are also shown on the map panels, but if you have used other ACA maps you'll be able to figure it out.

Thanks Carla.

Have a buddy in the printing industry that has some Tyvek-like material I may get it printed on.

Look forward to checking the map out.
