Hi, i am hiking the appalacian trail this year, and would like to follow it up with a cross country ride.  i figure if i start in georgia, and finish in maine i will be able to start early to late august.  is it possible if i take southern routes?  i have not started planning for this yet and could really use advice on this, and on what gear i will need.  Also is it possible to pass through reno?  All advice is appreciated and needed.
