Adirondack Loop
« on: December 23, 2008, 05:50:10 pm »
Thinking of doing this loop or The Green Mountain loop in late June, early July 2009. Does anyone have intel on the Adirondack loop, such as campgrounds, towns to buy groceries, how bad the bugs are? I have never been to this section of New York, so I am interested in seeing it.
I am pretty familiar with Vermont.
Thanks

Hi TJ,

It is much like northern Vermont. Towns are spaced a bit further apart and the roads are a bit better. The ACA map has the customary good info on camping and shopping.

Black flies make life miserable between Mothers Day and Fourth of July, roughly. They would be enough to drive me into a motel room. The rest of the summer, there are some mosquitoes and midges, easily handled with some Off and a decent tent.
