Geocaching?
« on: October 05, 2003, 10:50:11 pm »
I´m planning to ride the Southern Tier route, and I´m propably taking a GPS with me.

I´ve been doing some geocaching here in Finland, and I´m interested to search out some Geocaches during my ride as well. It would be interesting to find some, and to spice up my journey. :)

Any ideas for good caches along the route? Or is this such a rare "sport" that no one around here is interested or hear about this before?

Check out www.geocaching.com for more info.

Geocaching is popular in the United States.  The amount of popularity varies from state to state.  On the west coast and in the northeast, it is very popular.  Elsewhere, geocaching is less popular, but caches can still be found.

For a map of caches in the United States see
http://www.brillig.com/geocaching/united_states.shtml
The map can be displayed by each state separately and then down to further detail showing major roads to give you an idea where the caches are located.  From the map, you can click on the cache location to display the cache page from the geocaching.com website.

I always enjoy geocaching while bicycling, as it takes me to places that I may not thought of going to.

Hey All -

I love geocaching and have done it all across the US. The best site for caches, that I've found, is www.geocaching.com - you can choose caches by state, zip code or country.

Best of luck. Look for my turtlex log signatures!
