GPS Datasets Updates
« on: February 25, 2006, 06:23:55 pm »
Does anyone know if there is a tentative date for an update to the ACA Waypoints files for the Northern Tier, North Lakes, or Lake Erie routes?

I plan to ride those routes this summer, and am ready to start seriously trimming the waypoints to 1,000; I just don't want to put a lot of time into the project and then find that I have updated an out-of-date set of files.

Hi Gramps,

I have been revising waypoints for all of North Lakes and some of Northern Tier to match new revisions of the printed maps. Sorry, I don't know when those are due for release, but perhaps Jennifer or Carla will chime in.

Hello Gramps and Fred,

The most current GPS files for all three routes mentioned are available for download on the ACA website. They should be up-to-date with the maps currently being sold.

To be certain, your numbers should match what is listed below:

Lake Erie Connector:
LE01v004 from map #BC-1914 05L; released 11/05

Northern Tier:
NT01v004 from map #BC-1121 05L; released 11/05
NT02v004 from map #BC-1122 05L; released 11/05
NT03v003 from map #BC-1123 01L; released 04/04
NT07v003 from map #BC-1303 03L; released 04/04
NT08v003 from map #BC-1101 01L; released 04/04
NT09v004 from map #BC-1102 05L; released 11/05
NT10v004 from map #BC-1103 05L; released 11/05
NT11v003 from map #BC-1104 02L; released 04/04

North Lakes:
NL01v003 from map #BC-1911 05L; released 11/05
NL02v003 from map #BC-1912 05L; released 11/05
NL03v003 from map #BC-1913 05L; released 11/05

If your maps are no more than one version older than these, I'd guess that you will still be ok as MOST of the changes are service related rather than route related.

I hope that helps,
.Jennifer.

Thanks Jennifer.

Do you expect any of these files to be replaced/updated in the next month or two?

If not, I will download all of them now, otherwise I will hold off on those you expect to be replaced soon.

Hi Gramps,

Nope, I don't expect there to be any changes to those GPS files in the next few months. I think you're good to go ahead and download 'em.

Have a great ride!
.Jennifer.

Thanks again Jennifer. I used your waypoints on part of the Atlantic Coast route last summer - they were great!
