Does anyone have an easy way to get the adventure cycling gps files into something that my TomTom One will understand?  I have tried a couple of cludgy applications POIConverter and ITNConv, but neither really comes up with a usable version.

Has anyone gotten this to work?

The agency I work for uses Tom-Tom's in three vehicles. We have a programmer who was able to do something very similar to what you want to do. He was able to load a text file containing waypoints, (Lat/Long and a name), into what Tom-Tom calls 'favorites'.  We have a programmer who is quite good at trial and error. He used a couple of freeware programs, Google earth, and the Tom-Tom desk-top application to do it. The Tom-Tom tech support group was of no help to him at all. He made no attempt to load routes (what Tom-Tom calls itineraries).

I'm out of town right now, but after I return, I'll see what software he used, and get a high level overview of his process to load waypoints.

For anyone else reading this, and considering a purchase of a GPS for bicycle touring, I would certainly not recommend a Tom-Tom.

The Tom-Toms seem fine for a motorist wanting directions to a point of interest, but for complicated route planning, I don't see them being of much value. I have a Garmin, and Garmin's desktop package, Desktop; am quite happy with it.

Now that I'm back from vacation, I find that the programmer I spoke so highly of is on vacation for another two weeks. If you need answers before then, I can tell you that he used two Internet sites to get his info: "www.tyre.tk" and "TomTom HOME". Plus, as I mentioned before, Google Earth.
