Anyone name their bike?

The first bike I named, which was the third I came to own since having fallen in love with riding in 1997, was dubbed The Tofubicycle. Since then I've always dug way down deep when it has come to naming my other bikes. There is Tofu II, Tofu III, Tofu IV, and so on.

"Lewis" and "Clark". No, not that Lewis and Clark. as I stated here earlier, I took to, at least in my head, referring to my Trek 4600 as the "Silver Wolf" because it was silver, and had so many WTB after-market parts. (WTB's logo is a wolf.) I have always called my black "cop" mountain bike the "Moose" because when I was actively doing volunteer patrol in Minnesota's Superior National Forest, MN's primary moose habitat, I always wondered if a near-sighted moose would mistake me on my bike for a competitor during rut season. I sort-of named the Volpe, "Discovery" but it didn't really stick.

Yesterday I sold the 4600 and bought a new bike, a Novara Safari. Basically, as I begin my preparations to ride to Portland and the Pacific Ocean on the Lewis and Clark Bicycle Trail, the Volpe, which is the best, most comfortable bike I have ever owned, will carry me over the road segments and the Safari will haul me and my gear over the Lemhi and Lolo passes. For that reason, I have named the rock steady, steel-framed, long haul Volpe, "Clark" and the nimble, off-trail exploring capable aluminum Safari, "Lewis". So now, I introduce you to....Lewis and Clark.

The answer is Western Flyer, which is also the name of my two kayaks and my marine radio call sign.  

I found a pair of original Western Flyer bicycle decals on EBay.  I sanded the Bianchi logos off my forks and Western Flyer is going on as part of my de-branding effort.  I wonder if this de-branding is just a Left Coast phenomena?  Particularly here in Portland, Oregon I see more and more bicycles (some pretty fancy) with the logos taped over or covered up with consciousness raising bumper stickers.

I once had a Specialized Sirrus I named 'El Diablo' (the devil) because no matter how tired i was that bike just made me ride more! I always used to tell people 'you don't ride that bike, it rides you!'

My first mountain bike, a green trek 850 antelope brought me back to the joys of my childhood. My first bike,at 6yrs, a hand me down, schwinn, 16 inch balloon tire coaster brake. Was an early instument of my emancipation. I went anywhere and everywhere on that bike. If my parents had only known! I got the trek 850 in my middle thirties after ensuing years off and on road bikes. I named the trek "Tomcat" because I was back to tom-cattin' around the neighborhoods again!
