Racks?
« on: July 30, 2004, 04:36:36 am »
I have a Trek rear rack on my Trek mountain bike and it works fine for my Trek Panniers II, but I am planning to upgrade to Jandd Mountain Panniers, should I go with the Jandd Expedition Rack? Any other suggestions?

Ride safe,
Hans

As long as you aren't using the massive Jandd Expedition panniers, your Trek rack will be fine.  I'm not a huge fan of the Trek rack, but it will work.  The Jandd rack is much sturdier and I would trust it with a lot more weight than the Trek, but the Mountain panniers are not large and do not require the extra heel clearance available on the Jandd rack.

A word of advice on the Mountain panniers:  many people use them for front panniers and they work great there, but they do hang fairly low and can scrape the ground in corners when they are used on low rider racks.
