Tires

What are the best tires for a self contained transAm ?
Where can I get them ?
I use 700 wheels , weigh 170 # and carry too much stuf .
I have taken several 3 week rides and tires were my biggest mechanical problem .

Best tires?  Do you mean tires that last?  

I put new armadillo tires on at the start of the Northern Tier.  Towing a BoB, I wore out the rear 1/2 way, but the front tire went the distance.  

I think my daughter had kevlar tires.  Her rear lasted until almost Niagra Falls.  

So, there are two types of tires to look for that will last and last.

What model Armadillo would you be recommending?

I'll cast a vote for Continental Top Touring-they last a long time, flat resistant, and handle great. Tried a set of Schwalbe Marathons-I really disliked the way the bike handled, and ended up giving them away with only a few hundred km on them. Back to Conti's forever for me.
