carbon seat post

I am now have a carbon seat post for my touring bike.  Now that I have it I'm not sure why I have it.  Does anyone out there use carbon posts on tour?

I'm not sure why anyone has a carbon seatpost on any type bike.  I hear lots of problems with slipping and inability to hold height adjustments.  They impress me as a solution looking for a problem.

I've seen one break on a mountain bike, rider had to finish the ride standing - he's very lucky he wasn't injured. I'd never put one on my bike after seeing this.

Last summer I toured for approximately 2200 KM on a carbon post - and
Winwood carbon forks as well! No problems arose. But, since component
weight is not an overriding concern on touring rigs, I concede there's no
advantage to installing a carbon post. Indeed, with durability an issue,
there's little to recommend such a setup; it was the bike's previous owner
installed the CF components and I anticipated that they could endure the
tour, and so let them be. But next time the bike will be equipped with an
AL post.
