Gear Advice for Great Divide

Would it be ok to use a Bob Ibex trailer on the Great Divide route or would it be easier with panniers?

Could I get away with using lowrider front panniers if mounted to a Novara Safari or are they a no no on this particular route?

Have you picked up Mike McCoy's book "Cycling the Great Divide" yet? (Available from the Adventure Cycling store on the website.) A lot of your questions can be answered in the first part of the book. McCoy say that a full suspension bike with a BoB trailer (either model, I'm sure) is becoming the "rig of choice" for the GDR. A lot of people report very good results with Old Man Mountain front and rear racks on FS bikes. I prefer a hardtail with rear panniers, and add the BoB for longer trips.

Get the book...it will make your planning a lot easier.
