Thermarest pad slipping

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to my thermarest pad to keep my sleeping bag from slipping off during the night short of buying a new pad.

You can make a cover for the pad out of cotton or flannel. It works just like a pillow case. The nice thing is on warm nights you can lay right on the pad and use your bag as a blanket if needed. The fabric should create enough friction between itself and the bag to keep you in place.

There are non-slip mats at hardware stores and RV stores.  They keep things from slipping around.  Stores sell them as things to keep plates from slipping off of RV tables to keeping rugs from slipping.  Its the same material, just different sizes.  Try some between the pad and your sleeping bag.

You must have an older Thermarest (like mine). I think the newer ones have a surface treatment to solve just that problem.

Get a can of the stuff football players used to spray on their hands to grip the balls. In fact, Thermorest sold something like that before going to the non-slip cover on one side. I used it and it worked.  Maybe you can still get a can from Thermorest.

A couple of things:

You can use some seam sealer on the pad (the stuff you would seam a tent) it will make the pad bottom a little less slippery. There are also non stick tape that you can get at a hardware store.

There are also some sleeping bag mfgrs that integrate the pad with the bag so you really can't slip off the thermarest.

Similar suggestion to the others.  Try some double sided tape.  Short pieces scattered over the Thermarest.  On the side that will stick to the sleping bag, make it less sticky by letting it dryo out and maybe taking a piece of flannel and sticking and unsticking to it.  You want it to sort of hold but not really stick.

Also try some rubber cement/glue.  The Elmers kind that comes in the brown jar with a brush.  Paint some strips of it on the Thermarest and the rubber should create enough friction to keep from sliding.  I think the rubber cement/glue will stick well enough to the Thermarest to stay in place when you roll it up.

Maybe cotton/fabric electrical tape would work too.  Not the shiny plastic electrical tape.  There is some electrical tape made of fabric.  Cotton or something.  Its fabric surface should provide enough friction to keep the sleeping bag in place.
