Cleaning Bike
« on: May 22, 2007, 11:38:32 pm »
I'm constantly getting caught in rain storms.  The sand and junk takes a while to clean out real well.
I know it is not recommended to use a power washer for it  blows out the good grease for key components.
However, what about using a air compressor set on low pressure, just to get the sand out after it dries?

Any thoughts?

I use a spray bottle to rinse the crud off the bike and then use a rag to wipe it down. I suspect that a compressor would be ok as long as you don`t blow the sand into the bearings. I like to use Super Lube, which is a clear silicone grease--same stuff as Finish Line which is twice the price. The stuff is really very good in wet environments. I live on the ocean so the salt air is always an issue. Usually after I wipe the bike down, I spray it with a little Pledge and buff it out.
