New 29er Bikes

Buying a new bike to ride the Great Divide in '08 and getting a lot of buzz that the new 29er bikes are now the best way to go for mountain bike touring.

Was wondering if anyone has ridden with this new bike style.  Seems like the larger wheels of a 29er would give the bike better handling overall.

I have the Gary Fisher Paragon 29er...I got it the first year they came out--3or4 yrs now (wow..it is time for a new one...) I absolutely LOVE it. It goes over everything.  It's much lighter than full suspension bike, and not missing out on anything. The geometry of it is great for longer rides/comfort. I just saw the new Gary Fisher Superfly in Mt Bike magazine....it is a masterpiece.
I'd highly recommend looking into a 29er.
