BOB & Rear Suspension?

I am planning to purchase a full suspension mtn. bike for eventual use on an off road tour.

Anyone have good or bad experiences with specific mass-production full suspension models (Trek, Cannondale, Specialized, Gary Fisher) pulling a BOB? Especially in regards to the lateral stiffness of the rear triangle?

My research thus far indicates that, a) the BOB can not be attached to Trek's 2008 upper-end Fuel EX bikes due to their design, and b) Lateral stiffness of the rear triangle is very important.

The problem is that no bicycle dealer nor mountain biking forum provides any consistent assessment on lateral stiffness.

I researched the same question a couple of years back.  I have a 2001
Gary Fisher Sugar 1 with a carbon rear triangle and was VERY concerned,
for the same reasons I'm sure.  How's all that bushings and moving stuff
going to handle a trailer on it?  Seemed kind of bad to me and I'm no
engineer.
In short, the GF people assured me that the trailer would not affect the
swingarm.  Of course they're not the one's who'd be stranded 50 miles
from nowhere.  I never tried it, but I'd still be skeptical.

I  have a regular mountain bike with front shocks and a seat post shock.

I have had not a bit of problem with the seat posts shock.     The problem is finding one at a reasonable price.

I recently found one in the Nashbar website for about 40 dollars.  

That worked better than a full suspension bike.   I have one on my wife's bike also.  She loves it.
