Robert Beckman Sakkit for sale in TX
« on: July 17, 2008, 05:04:55 pm »
Up for sale is a hand crafted Robert Beckman Designs Sakkit 26 Expedition touring bike with powdwercoated front/rear racks and 2 Discovery Modular 3600 panniers and 2 EL 24 or 2600 panniers. Anyone who has shopped for an RBD bike with all of the frills knows 2 things: 1. these bikes are very pricey 2. they take forever to be built and shipped. Here's your chance to own a truly beautiful and well designed touring bike.
This bike belonged to my late step-father who passed away this past December. I don't think (by the looks of the bike and equipment) he got to use the bike the way he always intended. Being that he retired from the military after 27 yrs. there were not too many things overlooked when he got involved with a project like this one. Too, he took great care of anything he posessed.
Note that some items listed are not pictured.

Pedals: Look A3.1
Brakes: Avid Single Digit V-brakes
Brake levers: Dia-Compe 287V
Handlebars: Nitto 45cm

Tires: Panaracer Hi-Road 26x1.5" (plus new set, pictured)
Rims: Velocity deep-v
Spokes: DT
Rear hub: Phil Wood(48 hole)
Front hub: Schmidt generator hub (40 hole)
quick release skewers: Shimano Deore XT (rear only)
Chain: KMC Z92S (brand new since original posting)
Saddle: Selle San Marcos Rolls (leather w/ a couple of scuffs, no tears)
Head Light: Busch and Muller Lumotech Plus
Cages: 4 velocity cages w/ water bottles
Paint: black powdercoat
Handlebar Bag: Adventure Cycling by Madden
seat post tool bag with Topeak Alien tool (21 functions)
Echo F2 cyclocomputer (needs a battery)
-collection of Adventure Cycling maps (31 new maps)

My 3,000 price is fairly firm. You can do some research to see just how much was spent on this bike and gear. I ballpark it at well over 5000 dollars see as how the frame sets and Shimano components alone started at 3000 dollars in 2000-2001 when the bike was built. The bike has been well kept out of the elements and has little miles on it. You can search Carigslist in the Austin area for Sakkit.

-Seat tube length c-c = 49cm
-top tube length c-c = 52.5cm
-seat tube length c-t = 50.5cm
-stand over height 30"
ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE E-MAIL!!!!

How tall was your father-in-law?  The stem and seat tube are very long;
is this the way Beckman intended the bike to be set up?  What  pubic
bone height would best fit this bike?

thanks

Hi

Is your Sakkit bike still for sale?  Do you have the dimensions of the bike or the size of the person it was built for?

Thanks
