Underground Railroad to Lewis and Clark
« on: January 22, 2009, 05:38:29 pm »
Does anyone know if their is a good route to connect Underground Railroad to Lewis and Clark?  Their isn't much distance between and perhaps ACA has a connector map but I haven't come across it yet.  I'll be riding Florida to Washington State this spring.  Thanks in advance!  Dennis

You didn't say where you will be wanting to connect from but you could use TransAm Section 10.  Once you get to Murphysboro, you can ride the Mississippi River Trail (http://www.mississippirivertrail.org/ ) until you get to St. Louis.  See Missouri Bicycle Federation (http://mobikefed.org/index.php) for maps for bike routes around St. Louis to connect in Hartford, IL (close to St. Louis).

The other option is to also use Section 9 of TransAm and using maps from MO Bike Fed, create your own route in Missouri.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for that info.  I don't have the actual maps yet - I'm going by the online versions, but from what I can tell the Undground Railroad comes closes to L&C near Paducah, KY.  L&C picks up at St. Lewis - so I guess I need the best route between those two points.

I checked out the Mississippi River Trail and I think it looks like a good route to join these two ACA routes.

Thanks for your help JulsaJohn!
