Pueblo, CO to Delaware Water Gap, PA

Hey, all. My name is Jim and I'm interested in planning a trip from Pueblo back to my house in PA. I'm moving to Pueblo with some friends in January and thought that biking back home in the summer to see my family would be pretty awesome. I saw that I could join the TransAmerica Trail in Pueblo, but I'm wondering where the best place to turn off would be before I find myself too far south. Or would it be best to just take the TransAmerica to Richmond and hook up with the Atlantic Coast? I'm a novice biker, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be inclined to take the TA until it joins the Blue Ridge Parkway, then continue north onto Skyline Drive to Front Royal and pick a route from there.  Where in PA are you headed?

Hey thanks for the reply. I'll check those out on some bike maps...wherever I can find those...do they have those? I live a few miles from Delaware Water Gap.

The TA uses the Blue Ridge Parkway up to the start of Skyline Drive.  You can just continue up Skyline Drive to  Front Royal.  From there I am not sure what is best.  There are some decent roads for cycling, but I am not knowledgeable enough to make a good recommendation.

I am told that if you want to go via Washington DC you can take W&OD Bike Trail into Arlington VA. Then follow the Custis Bike Trail to DC, but have never ridden on either.  Another option might be to look at where the AC Atlantic Coast Route goes, not sure if it is useful for you or not.

If you need a place to stay in Baltimore let me know.

Jim,
Not sure if you are still reading this topic.  I too am interested in this route, but starting in San Francisco.  Check out the discussion under "NYC to Cleveland".  This has far better suggestions than going all the way into VA.
Regards,
Bart
