so i am planning to bike from new york to wilmingthon...

but we are doubting if we should bring our bikes on the plain with us (maybe to expensive???)
of just rent them over there.

does anyone know a company who rents bike from new york and we could give back like in wilmingthon, nc?

or other possibilities?

all advices are welcome

Have you checked with your airline?  I've flown internationally with my bike a couple of times, and it has been no extra charge - the bike counted as one piece of luggage.  I think I just checked this for BA a little while ago, and it was free as long as you only had 2 35kg bags (hope i'm remembering this right).

Most if not all airlines charge you about $75 US each way when you travel with a bike.  No longer is a bike box or case considered just one of your pieces of luggage on international flights.  I do not know of any one who rents bikes from one location and then you drop it off at another.  And New York to North Carolina would be a lengthy rental.  Paying the fee to take your own bike from home seems simple.

I am sorry but I don't know anything about renting bikes. The only time I ever rented a bike was at a hostel in Cherbourg, France, and that was just a day-trip.
