Joining ACA
« on: May 04, 2009, 01:50:45 pm »
Hello Everybody, I'm new here so many apologies if this is in the wrong section (and can somebody point me at the right place for such posts - thanks).

I've just taken out family membership of ACA for myself and my husband, however there was nowhere in the application process to give his details, does he get his own membership card? If so how do ACA know who to make it out for?

Also could somebody please tell me how in the name of Phil Prince of Insufficient Light I can get a picture to actually appear in my profile, I've ticked the "I will upload my own picture" option in Forum Profile Information and selected a picture of 80x80 pixels, clicked the "Change Profile" button, but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Just send a quick email to memberships@adventurecycling.org and they'll get your membership straightened out.  As for the avatar photo, this link may help out http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/

It seems that there are some issues with uploading your own personalized photo. I tried it and could get it to work with some images but not others. I would not get an error when it did not work and it just refreshed the page and my old image was still there. The forums are set to accept .jpg or .gif images as attachments for this purpose and they need to be under 200kb. The image I was able to make work was a .gif and was 41 x 47 pixels. I posted a message on the smf forums support board asking about this issue and will report back if I get an answer.

Thank you both (and the person who e-mailed me off board), the membership bit should be sorted now. I'll keep on trying with the avatar, but would be interested to hear if you get a response to your message on the smf forums board.

The maximum size when uploading a file was set to 65x65 pixels, which is why your photo was not working. We have increased this to 80x80 pixels. I don't know why you were not receiving an error alerting you to this fact, but this was the problem. Please try uploading your avatar again and let me know if you are still experiencing problems.
