Bryan McDonald in Silver City
« on: February 24, 2009, 04:59:47 pm »
I just saw in the latest Adventure Cyclist magazine that Bryan McDonald passed away on 10/24.  He picked up our group at the border on 10/16 and drove us back to Silver City after finishing the Great Divide last year.  Just curious if anyone knows what happened.  He seemed like a great guy and really loved bringing GDR and CDT riders/hikers out/back to the trailhead.

Hello,

I’m Bryan’s brother

Bryan passed away in his sleep.  Bryan had been suffering from a cold that was close to turning into pneumonia.  The day before he passed, Bryan’s doctor suggested that he should check himself into a hospital for oversight and treatment.  Bryan decided against it.

Per Bryan’s direction (as outlined in his Will), an autopsy was not performed so the actual cause of death was never determined.  We laid Bryan to rest in Silver City New Mexico, next to his Dad.

I’m not a subscriber to the Adventure Cycling Magazine but if you could see your way to email me the article I will pass it along to his children.

Thanks
