where to find white gas for first-timer from Europe

I´m flying in this summer to Denver from Europe to hit the Transamercian in Frisco CO, my first time in USA on a bicycle. Before leaving Frisco I need to get some white gas for my MSR stove. Where is the best place to go, Wal-Mart, hardware, gas station? I´ve seen on the MSR website they have there own good quality white gas, maybe I cant find that in Frisco, but can you recommend any other good quality white gas?

if you are flying into denver I'm guessing there are some pretty decent outdoor stores....any of those should be able to get you the white gas for MSR stove..if there is an REI store in Denver I'd def check them out before departing Denver.  There are a few bigger sized towns that you'll go through if heading back towards Atlantic Ocean that should carry the white gas even if hardware store.  Their reliability is nothing to tap your foot to though.  Good luck.

Thanks for the answer and sorry that I forgot to mention that I´m heading west. I know there is a REI in Denver but my idea was to go from the airport directly to Frisco same day on a shuttle. But if there is safer to go for REI I might take a room for the night in Denver and visit REI next morning.

I forget exactly which stores there were in Frisco and nearby by Silverthorne and Breckenridge, but you should have no trouble finding fuel there.  I think there are 3 or 4 hardware stores and a Walmart.  I am pretty sure that one of the bike shops had it was well.  Sorry I don't have addresses, but it should be easy to find some.

The most common brand of white gas here is "Coleman" and nearly any shop that carries any outdoor gear has it inclusing Wal-Mart, Sports Authority, Dicks, etc. etc.  The problem is in comes in gallon cans (about 4L) so you will have a lot to carry or a lot to discard.

I'm not sure about which MSR stove you have but many of them will burn unleaded automotive gasoline (petrol) too and it's available at any "gas station".  Find someone who is filling their car and ask to fill your fuel bottle.  They may even not ask you to pay for the 1L or so you get.

Even grocery stores in Colorado usually carry white gas, sometimes under the name "camp fuel".  You can probably find it toward the front of the store, near customer service.  Frisco has two major chain groceries- Safeway and City Market, both good bets.  There is also a hardware store in Silverthorne, which is only about 5 miles from Frisco.

MSR white gas is good, and REI is a great, fun store, but I wouldn't want to spend a night in Denver just to get MSR fuel. 

I live in Denver.  If you let me know when you'll be arriving, and I'm in town, I would be glad to be your shuttle to the start of your ride, as well as fill your fuel bottles from the gallon can that's usually in my garage.

ya know there is a nice little outdoor store on the main street of Dillon, but depending on your schedule of arriving into town and the ride up etc it might be wise to check out their hours.
