Southern Tier- The Deatails

Hi Everyone-

I am starting the Southern Tier route (W-E) on April 1st. I am about to buy my plane ticket and trying to figure out a few small details. I would like to ship my bike to a bike shop near the beginning of the route so they can put it together and have it ready when I arrive. Any suggestions? I am planning on arriving 1 or 2 days early. Any recommended places to stay near the beginning of the route that perhaps many other bikers have stayed before me? Should I take a taxi from the airport or is there a better way to get where I'm going?

You can google for bike shops at you starting point. Give them a call or e-mail and ask. Where you stay depends on your finances. There is no shortage of hotels, motels, and hostels in that vicinity that I know of.
