Southern Tier Bicycle Assistance
« on: April 15, 2009, 02:35:35 pm »
Hey I'm living in Jacumba on the southern tier route. From all the people who have traveled past here there seems to be a lack of emergency bicycle services. The closest bicycle shop is in El Centro, Ca.
I have a few tools, tires, tubes and a wheel truing stand. So if any has the skill to make or need something please contact me through this forum.

Hey Jean,

Since you live fairly close to the absolute worst section of road on the Souther Tier route (Seely to Ocotillo) you might find your services in high demand from westbound riders.  Good luck.

If people could send in suggestions regarding typical tire sizes that they are traveling with I could have a few spares in hand. East bound or west bound travelers.
Spokes or broken rear derailer brackets can't be on hand because there is too many diffrent types. I have a spare rear 16 for the bob trailer. For the recumbant people I'll need to know what size the front tire is, 20"  and rear 700 X ? .
Brake pads I could possible have in hand if I can get some instruction on which to keep in hand. Disc is another story we won't go there.
Any suggestions regarding purchasing the best book to learn and have as referance for truing wheels? Where to order from?
