« on: April 18, 2009, 09:11:05 am »
ok I've got my maps for the U.G.R.R. for www.mybigride09.com later this summer. but what I'm trying to do is:
1) coordinate hotel stops with city at a reasonable mileage of 50 miles or so
2) link my starting location in downtown Cleveland. up with th U.G.R.R. using a safe bike route.
3) do all of this on my computer so I can put it on my site

help I'm going nucking futs
this September I will be riding for veteran issues.    from Cleveland, Ohio to Dallas, Texas Please support me as I make this journey.
Thank you, BIGRIDE

Hi,

The Northern Tier Route Section 9 goes through Cleveland. If you follow it eastbound, you will connect with the Underground Railroad Route Section 4 in Ashtabula, OH to begin your journey south.

I hope that helps.

Hi Lee,

Unfortunately, I don't have any tried and true suggestions for you on the routing you are looking for. Looking at the map, I would start to head north somewhere between St. Francisville, LA and Navasota, TX. Contact the Bike/Pedestrian Coordinator for those states for routing suggestions.
This time of year you might need to call them rather than email.

Also, I just came across this map for Louisiana, check out the one called "Cajun Country": http://www.dotd.la.gov/email.asp?pre=Bicycle%20Trails%20Map%20Request

In Texas, once you've determined what counties you intend to travel through, you can download county maps from the Texas DOT here: http://www.txdot.gov/travel/county_grid_search.htm

I hope this helps.

Yea! I'm glad you were able to connect with him and get some assistance. When you return, I'm sure other cyclists would like to know your route and how it worked out.

they don't produce biking maps because things change so much
