GPS suitable for the great divide route ?
« on: September 05, 2009, 10:57:59 am »
Hello all,
New to GPS / Long mtb rides so my questions are :
If as was to ride the Great divide route what would be a suitable gps unit ?
Would I get clear marked out trails on the unit ?
How well marked out is the route as do the trails seem to flow into each other or is their a lot of road crossings to get back on to the off road section ?

I haven't done the Great Divide, but would recommend you look at http://www.topofusion.com/divide/ for gpx files for the entire route, broken out a day at a time. Paula and Scott (Topofusion developer) did an excellent job on GPS mapping the route and their journal is highly informative. As to a GPSR, the Garmin 60 CSx is highly recommended by many; I use it. Good luck.
