how to get car from Portland (or Bend) to Brookings

Morning all, my wife and I are planning to cycle the Oregon coast (for her 50th birthday), beginning on Labor Day from Astoria to Bookings.  We live in Bend, and are trying to figure out how to get our car from Astoria or Portland to Brookings, or thereabouts.  We have about a month for the ride, and will be using a (Burley folding) trailer, which makes busing difficult. 
Any ideas?

Not specifically, but I did rent a car one-way from Brookings to the bay area once.
