This video is of my 2011 bicycle tour on the scenic and dramatic San Juan Skyway. The San Juan mountains of Southwest Colorado are a very special place for me. I go to them for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival each year like a pilgrimage and be sure to arrive weeks early to enjoy the area. This year I decided to circumnavigate the greater vicinity around Telluride by pedaling hundreds of miles in the San Juan Skyway. The path loops from Telluride Colorado through Rico, Dolores, Durango, Silverton, Ouray and Ridgway offering some of the most breathtaking views of the San Juan mountain range (with snow in June). It also offered me my most difficult day of climbing and greatest downhill, all on Red Mountain Pass/ Million Dollar Highway. I saw so much in those four days but could only film some. Strong headwinds made much of the ride more difficult than expected. Watch for the running of the cows, a hidden hot spring, and plenty of nice views. Check it out and enjoy.
