We are doing a charity ride planned for September 2010. Having seen the temperatures recently we were wondering if we should leave the trip until October or November and would welcome any advise from anyone who has past experience. We are attempting the whole journey in 30 days. Is this possible?

30 days?  That's an average of 100+ miles every day with no off-days at all.  How are you at doing 30 back-to-back centuries?  Do three or four consecutive century days and then decide if you can handle 10 times as many.

30 days - wow that is impressive.  Are you carrying your own gear?  Do let us know how you get on, took me 3 months but then doubt if anyone much slower than me!  Good luck sorry realised that doesn't help at all re your question.

We have a backup vehicle so not carrying our gear. Will let you know how it goes

i did the transam route and averaged 115 miles/day while carrying my own gear....so, it is possible, but prob not the most enjoyable approach.  but, seeing you folks will have gear carried it might not be so bad.  just keep in mind the amount of daylight hours will decrease later in season get, so you'll either have to bike faster avg pace or bike in the dark some on either end of the day.  good luck!

Anything is possible. The weather might have something to say about your vaunted 100 miles a day. Websites can tell you past climate and weather phenomena in the areas you say you will go. You can get a pretty good idea from their information what you can expect. You have to make the probabilities on your own,
