Alaska To Argentina

Start in a week on a solo ride, planning on hitting up a ton of singletrack and dirt roads.
Anybody live in the western hemisphere that has any knowledge?

I suggest you search crazyguyonabike.

There are folks who've been up the Dempster.  And folks who've done it North to South, end to end.

The British guy - well Scottish actually - who holds the Guiness around the world cycling record did the Alaska to the bottom of S. America last year I think.  You can probably connect with his website by typing in his name on Google: Mark Beaumont.  Lots of pix plus a blog.  Took him about nine months, although he was well sponsored.
