Ortlieb Civia Back-roller Panniers
« on: November 27, 2009, 08:31:41 pm »
I was looking into buying Ortlieb back-roller classic panniers and I found some being sold called Ortlieb Civia panniers. They appear to be the same as the classic Ortlieb ones except that they are sold separately rather than as a pair and the exterior design is different. I have 2 questions....

1) are they indeed the same as normal Ortlieb backroller classic panniers except for the design?

2) why are they sold separtly? If i bought two of them as individuals, would i be able to mount them the same way as i would a pair of the classic ones?

Thanks for the help!

hhmmm,

Since you are not getting much activity, on your post, may I make a suggestion. Before purchasing a complete set of Ortlieb Panniers and Handle Bar Bags for myself and my girlfriend, I had similar questions. I am not sure many readers have experience with the Civia Back-roller Panniers. I believe they are more a commuter pannier and very waterproof. As such, they sometimes sell them individually. I tried writing to Ortlieb USA located in Washington State. I did not get an answer, so I called them. I spoke to someone, in sales, he was a bit cocky, but very helpful. I am sorry, I could not remember his name. He spent the time to explain to me the advantages of different materials, workmanship and design features. So I listed their information below. Good luck in your quest.
