Rockies in June [was Re: Midwest Icebreaker]

i go by jake the snake but i normaly just go by jake. i've been riding a scott mountainbike since i was five years which was 35 gears and i really enjoyed it in the europine hills. When i was about 7 years old i did start watching tour de swiss and Le Tour de France and that's when i really started getting crazy about riding a bicycle. Ever since i always got a new bike every 5 years because i've normaly rode to fast downhill or it just got to old.

Just last febuary i have decided to go on my first ever bicycle tour with my father. It will be from KY to UT and i am aiming around 6 to 8 weeks and visiting some family and friends on the way.

I should be in the rockies around biginning to mid june what is the weather like in the rockies around that time ?

Any advice on this tour is appreciated

The Rockies in the second half of June is as favorable as it gets. That's the optimal time to be there. There should be plenty of sunshine, with a fairly low chance of rain. Depending on where you are ("the Rockies" covers a lot of ground), it can be as hot as the 90s F in the day and below freezing at night. But in general, the weather is great. Cycling in the day can usually be done in shorts and a short-sleeve jersey. But of course you need to watch the weather forecast and plan for cold descents from the passes (i.e., carry some warmer stuff up the passes with you).

Hmmm.  Since neither 2 nor 3 is a multiple of 35, it must have been an interesting set up.  Single chainring with a 35 speed cog?

I think 35 years makes since in the context of the post, I'm guessing though.

I've been snowed on hard in the passes of the western Rockies in late June.  You can do it, but be prepared to wait it out if there are cold storms in the passes.  In the lower elevations, it can be great riding, with warmth and plenty of sunshine.

Scott didn't make MTBs 35 years ago.  Did anyone market MTBs 35 years ago?
