Most of these "Florida drivers" were originally from somewhere else in the US.
That would be true of most of the population of Florida, wouldn't it?  Especially if you drop the "in the US" to include recent immigrants.

BTW, I noticed that when doing the Trans America whenever I saw a really bone headed move on the road there seemed to be really good chance the vehicle would have Florida plates.  This would be in Kansas or Montana or just about anywhere.  It might just be because a lot of rental cars, trucks, and RVs have Florida plates though.

To those of you who have provided usefull information, I thank you. I have used some of that information and advice. I am sure this trip is going better and has been safer. Thanks to you. I pay for internet usage by the minute and can not afford towaste my time. To those of you who have chose to waste my time having your own irrellevent conversation, It is easy to see that your main concern is your ranking based on how many posts you have on this site. I have it ironic that while you discuss how rude some motorists are you do not see how rude you are being. You should be more understanding and forgiving of those motorists, perhaps they are no more ignorant of their lack of consideration than you are of your own. Happy Riding.  PEACE-OUT

Noworries, I have a book called, "Florida's Paved Bike Trails," by Jeff and Gretchen Kunerth. 2nd edition. It is divided by geographic section. They have some great bike paths and routes, many with minimum traffic. If you have interest, send me an email, under my profile, and indicate where you want to ride, I could email you some routes :)

I just returned from a 3 day tour around Lake Okeechobee following the LOST trail (well named as it's not well marked in most placed and I got off route a few times adding about 15 miles to my route).
Nice campsites along the way and some very rough dirt track for several miles but doable with 1.5" tires at 45psi.
The trail is closed in a few places totaling maybe 35 miles of highway detouring but except for one really nasty highway construction zone on 441 most all of the detours have reasonable shoulders.
I did it fully loaded but it'd be a nice tour do do light as there are many accesable towns with motels  along the way.

I assume your future question will not be answered since we may inadvertently waste your time with irrelevant digressions.   Apparently you aren't familiar with the the term "thread drift".

Ignorant motorists, whether overtly hostile or just inconsiderate, can kill you on a bike.  I don't think "understanding" is called for.

Of course I am familiar with the term thread drift. It refers to what happens in a conversation when one or more of the participants suffers from ADD or some other ailment, which prohibits them from following a conversation others are having without feeling the need to take over and redirect the conversation for their own self indulgence. Psychologists and sociologists agree that these people lack two abilities that most people have. 1. The ability to add to an existing conversation being held by others. 2. The ability to shut up. Lacking these two social qualities the victim is left with only the ability to distract from the topic with utterings only he feels are pertinant. Further more simply because the term "thread drift" exists means nothing. There are also terms such as "tresspassing", "Littering", and "speeding", all things that are defined by terms and all things that are rude and inconsiderate.          ALL PATHS LEAD TO G-D MAY YOURS BE SHORT

There is great info to be had on here even if sometimes there is a little bit of banter.  All in good humour and helps with making relationships - all be it in cyber space.  Often the asides give valuable info also.

But don't worry "noworries" I wont be wasting your precious minutes ever again.  Apologies from me.

Sounds like a Jihadist curse. I hope I never cross your path and I'm glad I'm not in Florida while you are there.

man...I LOVE the Grateful Dead (a.k.a. on this thread:  G-D).  Often listen to them while pedaling along sometimes.

Hands down... best album of theirs is "Europe 1972"...awesome set list.
Although their album of Bob Dylan covers is quite awesome "Postcards of the Hanging"

...have we thread drifted yet????

To point out a thread drift is to participate in the drifting of said thread....unless the thread is titled "thread drift" :o
