Baggy shorts

Having toured previously in lycra.  Now getting a bit older and taking into account the delicate nature of some of the red necks I will encounter on next tour I've decided to move over to "baggies".

Anyone like to suggest/recommend the best makes/model to start my search.

I like the Nashbar Tahoe shorts but have not seen them lately.

I use the REI Novara Rail bike shorts.  They have a nice liner with pad and several pockets to carry stuff when exploring off the bike.

Dumb name, but Endura's HUMVEE shorts are overbuilt and fantastic. Not cheap, but my favorite, go-to everyday shorts.

I do not need a chamois on my recumbent's super plush seat so I buy premium swimming trunks at department stores, power shopping end-of-season liquidations. I have never paid more than $10 for great materials and assembly in a range of interesting colors that I like to think increase my visibility.

David is that the reason for the grimace on the guy behind you or have you just run him over, maybe he didn't see you!

Tony: I share your sartorial sensitivity. Take a look at http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3655580&cp=3677345.3737442.3696721 . Used these last year and found them very good. This is a two-parter, i.e., outer shell and removable liner. I've used two-somes for a number of years on tour. Makes for a slightly smaller pack and eases the sanitary demands besides providing a more "mature" appearance.

I got a very good pair of Dakine 8 Track from Cycle Surgery for £41 recently.   No chamois but a good mesh liner.   Other than that, I have an elderly pair of shorts which I got from Wiggle in a sale.   They've lasted two years of fairly hard use, have a reasonable chamois and are my all round favourites.  I've also got a pair of Enduras with a click fast liner which are very good.
